San Diego's Little Fish Comic Book Studio launches its first classes in September 2012.

Finally! San Diego, home of Comic-Con International, can now boast that it has its very own school for aspiring cartoonists and comic-book artists! And not a minute too soon, I might add. The school is appropriately named Little Fish Comic Book Studio, located at 4837 Voltaire Street, San Diego, CA 92107.

Little Fish offers artists of all ages the opportunity to learn the creative process of creating a comic from scratch under the watchful eyes of trained artists as instructors. Instructors Alonso Nunez and Patrick Yurick will guide students in a number of courses ranging from writing scripts to penciling and inking their own original comics, and eventually getting their work out into the world.  I wish there was something like Little Fish Comic Book Studio (see link below) around when I was a kid!

Think of Little Fish Comic Book Studio (I love the name!) as a place where artists ages six and older can get a crash course in comics from the genesis of an idea to a completed piece.

If you are curious to find out more, this new school for artists seeking entry into the comic-book industry has a launch party on Friday, August 31 and classes (all courses are 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mondays through Friday in two-month modules) begin in September 2012. Be there with your pencils, ink and thinking caps on ready to dream on paper! Sounds marvelous!
