A page from a "Lobster Johnson" comic.

If you’re new to comics or just curious about the art form, you might be asking yourself, “Where do I start?”

Fortunately, the staff at Kotaku have put together a short primer to guide you through the process. Think of it as an instruction manual on where to get comics and what comics might be the best way to introduce yourself to the medium. Despite their popularity, comics remain an often misunderstood and under-appreciated art form by the mainstream media, unless of course, there is a new comic-book movie on the horizon.

The actual graphic novels and comics are where it’s at, people. Get wise and open up a graphic novel and let your imagination wander down the rabbit hole of comic creators inventing new world and often throwing the human condition under a microscope in the process.
